Required Ingredients

2 ½CupFlour
¾CupWhite Sugar
CupLight Brown Sugar
¾CupSalad oil
CupSour milk (or milk soured with lemon juice)
TeaspoonBaking Powder
Egg beaten lightly
CupChopped pecans

Preparation Instructions

  1. Mix well the flour, white sugar, brown sugar, salt and ground nutmeg. Mix with the salad oil until crumbly and remove a scant cup to reserve for topping.
  2. Mix together the soda, sour milk, baking powder and egg. Add to the above mixture.
  3. Pour into a buttered 9x13 baking pan.
  4. Sprinkle with the reserved topping, the nuts and cinnamon to taste.
  5. Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 20 to 40 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
